Snow Profile Comments
Slick bed surface from before the storm, a bit of light density snow underneath the denser daytime snow that experienced green housing as well.
Comments
I was skiing this shot around 6 PM, near the bottom of the chute, there were some exposed rocks and it made me take a hip check, needing to regain my feet. I did this very quickly but as I began moving again a wall of heavy snow smacked me from behind and carried me (on top) about 100 vertical until I was able to cut hard enough to escape the flow and ski out to the skiers’ left.
This was a scary, eye opening experience and I hope people can learn from it. I’m generally pretty conservative with risk and I very much underestimated the green housing and very slick bed surface that exists.
