Comments

This is the larger of the two avalanches triggered this Saturday morning in the Providence Canyon Area. Apparently, a rider escaped the avalanche at the top when it broke, being near the crown, and was able to self-arrest on the bed surface... His sled tumbled down the hill behind the hard slab avalanche. The pictures of the avalanche pretty well tell the story, with the track from the rolling sled obvious in the middle right of the bed surface. It also appears as though there were a few tracks in the slope before the avalanche occurred.
